Amid green hilltops, ridges, gorges and ravines, along the vanished Medieval border between Moorish and Christian Spain, lie whitewashed villages. Here the modern age has barely made a mark.

Through the spectacular mountain scenery of Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, you’ll stop at three of those well-preserved pueblos blancos (white villages). First, the morning in Arcos de la Frontera, where aristocrats and generals built monumental palaces and churches on narrow, geometric streets. Then, Medina Sidonia which is famous for its beef, ham, cheese, and sweets made by convent nuns.  The tour ends at Vejer de la Frontera, a beautiful walled town above the River Berbate. Now a chic hub of bohemian craft shops and jewelry stores the past still rings from the white-painted stones.
