Walk through Madrid’s oldest barrio, the Austrias neighbourhood, to get a sense of what life was like in old Madrid: Who were the people that lived here and how was their lifestyle compared to ours today? As you descend into the atmospheric, medieval streets you’ll leave the beaten path to be transported through time.

Our Madrid tour starts in the year 711 when Madrid was under the Iberian Caliphate’s reign. We will journey through medieval streets and learn how Madrid became the capital of Spain in 1561. We’ll discuss the dark days of the Inquisition and finish in 1725, when the oldest restaurant in the world first opened its doors: Restaurante Sobrino de Botín.
